Frequently Asked Questions about the WILD Birthday Parties
How do I schedule a party?
You must make your reservation at least 3 weeks prior to the date you wish to schedule your birthday party. Call the zoo at 806-381-5605.
When is the payment due?
Payment must be received within 72 hours of making your party reservations.
What is the cancellation policy?
Amarillo Zoo adheres to a no refund policy for birthday party rentals with less than a 72 hour notice, unless it is due to weather. If your party is canceled due to weather you may either re-schedule the party or chose to receive a refund.
When can I have a party?
Birthday parties are scheduled at 10:00 am, 12:30pm, and 3pm from April 1st – October 1st. Excluded dates include special event dates.
What should I expect when I arrive?
Upon arriving at the Amarillo Zoo please check in at the admission gate. A zoo staff person will escort you to the birthday party site.
Are their a minimum or maximum number of guests for a party?
Due to the size of the birthday party area, guests must be limited to no more than 25 (adults and children). Larger groups can be accomodated, but seating may be limited.
Do I need to bring plates, cups, drinks, etc?
Yes, the zoo will supply 5 picnic tables. You can also purchase soft drinks and snacks from the zoo’s concession or choose one of the “add-on’s” listed above.
Can I come in and set up for my child’s zoo birthday party early?
In most cases you can enter the zoo about 30 minutes prior to your scheduled party time.
Can I bring in outside food?
Yes, but each birthday party scheduled for the day has a set amount of time to get the party completed. Please note that outside catering is not permitted on zoo grounds.
Can we bring decorations?
You are welcome to bring in decorations if you wish, but please remember for the safety of the animals, balloons, streamers, confetti, chewing gum, piñatas and stickers are not allowed.
Can I bring balloons or a piñata for my child’s birthday party?
For the safety of our animals, piñatas, balloons, streamers, confetti and stickers are not allowed on zoo grounds.
Who will be responsible for the kids during the party?
You and your other adult guests are responsible for your children.
How many people can I invite to my child’s zoo birthday party?
For a more memorable experience we suggest limiting your guest list to 15 children. Please remember the maximum number of guests you may have is 25 which includes children and adults. Larger groups can be accomodated, but seating may be limited.
Where will my child’s birthday party be held?
Your birthday party will be inside a small, gated outdoor area near the tiger exhibit. Please note this is not an inside area and subsequently subject to weather such as rain.
Can we stay longer than 2 hours?
You have access and use of the private party site for 2 hours and must vacate this area at the end of your reservation. But, you and your guests may extend your stay at the zoo visiting exhibits or playing at the playground as long as you wish until zoo closing.
What is the animal presentation?
During the animal presentation you and your guests will get an up-close look at one of our educational animals. Depending on which theme you choose this may include a ferret, rabbit, snake, lizard or tarantula.
Can I bring my own cake?
Yes. But, please remember there is no refrigeration available.
May we open presents at our birthday party?
Yes. But please pick up and discard any trash.
I do not want to pay for a birthday party package. Can I rent a picnic table within the zoo?
The zoo does not rent or reserve individual picnic tables. Please note that balloons, piñatas, banners, glass bottles and straws are not allowed inside the park. You may not bring in outside food and drinks, but you may purchase snacks and drinks from the zoo concession.
