The Zoo celebrates Asian Pacific month with a day filled with the sighs, sounds and tastes of the people, culture and animals of the Asian continent. Dancers from Eastridge Elementary School demonstrate Lao, Vietnamese, Dragon, Burmese, Karen and Karenni dances from 10:00am to 11:30am. Kids can learn to use chops sticks and make origami plus touch a live snake as they explore our cultural discovery areas throughout the day. Want to try something a little different? Sample some edible insects like chocolate dipped mealworms. Enjoy a presentation on our Bengal Tigers at 1:30pm. Make “gyotaku” Japanese Fish Print Art and help make a paper chain snake to help celebrate the “Year of the Snake” Come join us for a fun family day at the Zoo!

An event for people young and old to learn about the importance of protecting endangered species and everyday actions that people can take to protect our natural areas. Throughout the day there will be exhibits and activities focusing on threatened and endangered wildlife, conservation, recycling and information on what you can to to help.

Hop on over the the Amarillo ZOo for our annual Easter EGG-citment! event. Kids can visit one of the many treat stations to receive their Easter eggs filled with candy and goodies from costumed characters like Alice, the Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts, the March Hare, Bugs Bunny and others. Make sure to stop by and say hi to the Easter Bunny! Watch our lemurs, lions, tigers and other zoo animals enjoy their very own Easter baskets filled with special treats. All that plus live bunnies for kids to pet and an egg-ceptional exhibits on bird eggs!
