    Hummingbird & Pollinators Festival

    Hummingbird and Pollinator Festival

    Saturday, September 5, 2015

    9:30am – 3:00pm

The Zoo will be humming with excitement on Saturday, September 5th when the focus will be on the tiniest of our avian friends – the hummingbird! Exhibits, presentations and crafts will introduce guests to ways to make your backyard a friendly environment for hummingbirds, butterflies and other pollinators. The fall is the height of the migration season for thousands of hummingbirds that pass through our state. The most common species in the Texas Panhandle is the black-chinned hummingbird, but others like the rufous and the calliope are often seen at area feeders. Experts will be on hand to share their knowledge of hummingbird identification, planting gardens to attract butterflies and how to attract purple martins.  Looking for fall plants to add to or begin a wildlife garden? Then be sure to check out the plants that will be on sale by Canyon’s Edge Plants.
